So did you not like your job?

It wasn’t that, I assure you. Leaving a full-time job to launch a freelance service was not about escaping a particular situation. Rather, it was about exploring an idea I’ve had for quite some time. 

Could I make a go of it by helping local small businesses with social media content and management? That’s basically the question that kept floating around in my head. I realize not every small business can afford to hire a full-time PR/marketing person, but maybe they could afford to pay a freelancer a small amount to help out a little. 

It was never about working for myself or not having a traditional job. It was all about using whatever skills I’ve attained over the years to help out around our town. I always felt in my gut that there was enough of a need around here to make it go, or at least get started and see where it could lead. 

It was never and will never be about competing with any established entities in town. It’s about seeing an under-serviced sector of our community and wanting to help if I could. 

Now having taken the leap to give this a shot, it’s been interesting hearing from people who are indeed curious about what I could do to help their small businesses or organizations. They’re not quite sure what it is I’m offering, but they do kind of understand that I’m here for them. 

So that’s a start. We’ll see where it goes.
