RENU MEDICAL & SPA

Compassionate medicine.

It was called ReNu Medical & Spa from the beginning.

But in the beginning, there was no spa.

“I knew I wanted a spa, that there would be a spa. I just didn’t have the space when we first opened. But I knew it would happen eventually.”

Dr. Jacqueline Youtsos, ladies and gentlemen.

She’s a go-getter. A workhorse. One of those people who sets her mind to something and gets it done. And when she moved to Pittsburg with husband Eric Bradshaw, she knew she wanted to build the area’s premier skincare and wellness clinic.

So she did.

ReNu Medical & Spa provides a variety of dermatological services, as well as elective cosmetic enhancement and spa treatments. ReNu treats a wide range of skin conditions in-house, such as acne, moles, eczema, psoriasis, rashes, rosacea, cysts, lipomas, toenail fungus, and skin cancer symptoms.

On the spa side, Renu offers a variety of services such as couples massages, body wraps, migraine relief, hot stone massage, foot reflexology, and more.

“People here were getting these things done, but they were leaving town for it,” Youtsos said. “They were having to go to Joplin or Kansas City or Tulsa. I wanted to make sure they could get everything they needed here in Pittsburg.”

Youtsos, a board-certified physician who specializes in the field of medical and cosmetic dermatology, said ReNu’s services reflect both her passion for dermatology and the need in Pittsburg when she arrived.

“Pittsburg is blessed with a large number of very talented primary care physicians,” she said, “but we didn’t have anyone who really specialized in dermatology. Derm is my life. It’s what I’m passionate about. The skin is the body’s largest organ, and it takes a certain type of attention and care to make sure it’s as healthy as can be. That’s what I wanted to bring to Pittsburg.”

Youtsos knows first-hand the importance of taking care of one’s skin.

“During my first semester of residency, I started to feel a mole on my left arm,” she said. “It had a scab on it. It ultimately ended up being melanoma.”

The cancer was successfully removed, but the lesson remained, and Youtsos decided caring for people’s skin would be her life’s work.

“I was sort of thrusted into dermatology because of what I went through,” she said. “I had tremendous doctors who took care of me, and I wanted to turn my attention and focus on helping others in that way.

“It became my passion, and I ran with it.”

After graduating from the University of Chicago, Youtsos moved to New Mexico to practice alongside a Family Medicine Physician who served dermatology patients exclusively. It was there that she met her husband Eric, who was born and raised in Southeast Kansas.

In October 2014, the couple was engaged during the Pittsburg State Homecoming Parade. They married in May 2015. A few months later, they moved to Pittsburg to be closer to family and provide medical care in Southeast Kansas.

ReNu got its start in 2016 inside the Lindburg Pharmacy building. The practice quickly grew and is now located at its state-of-the-art facility at 2425 Bradshaw Way.

And you should see the spa.

“Again, when we moved to town, there wasn’t a full-service spa,” she said. “We had a lot of very good massage therapists, but I believed Pittsburg needed a full spa.

“We needed a place you could go and be immersed in the smells and sounds. That’s why we have a water wall in the office. It’s why we have diffusers with beach smells. We want to take you to places you’ve never been.”

Experience.

That’s really what ReNu Medical & Spa is all about. Whether it’s medical care or a relaxing massage, Dr. Youtsos and her team aim to provide an experience that keeps patients coming back.

Where they feel at home.

“I think we need a lot more compassion in medicine, more empathy,” she said. “I want our patients to feel as if they’re coming into my home. I want to make that personal connection with them so that they not only understand what we’re doing, but why we’re doing it.”
